The internet is a funny place. It gives a voice to anyone and everyone. It does not matter whether anyone agrees, whether it’s something worth saying – it’s there. Normally I don’t tend to pay that much attention, but this week I have stumbled upon some real corkers: from Tony Harris’ Facebook outburst to Michael Calleri’s “beliefs in manliness”.
But the crème de la crème goes out to Steve Moxon who genuinely believes that women are biologically unfit to climb the workplace hierarchy and any attempt at gender equality actually creates discrimination against men. Wow. I wonder whether he finds the idea of Black History month ludicrous because there is no White History month, or maybe it gets a pass because men are men no matter what race.
And he has chosen to support some, shall we say interesting, men. Jimmy Savile, for one. Moxon has referred to the scandal as pure “hysteria”, unprovable and stupid. His blog (Tues Oct 16th, 2012) states that “if you showed photos of average girls ages fifteen or fourteen to the average man and did not label them with the girls’ ages, then all normal men would find them attractive and would react sexually”. He sympathised with Galloway over his lewd comments regarding rape (Tues Aug 21st, 2012); and terrifyingly attempted to justify Anders Breivik’s actions as “prescient” (Fri Aug 24th, 2012).
The most unbelievable part of it all is that Moxon is giving evidence to a parliamentary committee. Clearly his judgement is not the only one that is skewed.
