The skin on the face is more delicate and sensitive than the skin on the other parts of the body. It is much thinner and you have to take proper care of your skin on the face. It is this skin that starts showing the first signs of aging and since it is the face, it is most revealing. The early signs of aging included the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines near the eyes and corners of the mouth as well as on the forehead. The appearance of these signs depends to a large extent on the genes that you inherit from your parents. But there are some factors that make the signs of aging appear faster, such as sunlight, smoking, pollution, stress, drug, diet that lack nutrients and vitamins that the skin requires, lack of sleep and changes in the season.
Other than the wrinkles, there are many other signs also that your skin shows depending on your age. So your skin can be categorized according to your age. But there are some people whose skin show sings of aging slow and remain young looking for a longer time and still others whose skin age prematurely.
Difference between skin types of different age groups:
Teenage skin:
You will have the best skin during your teenage time. All you have to do is to keep it clean and free from pollution. Depending on the hormones produced by the body, you may have an oily skin dry skin or a combination skin. This is also the time when you get pimples and acne, so always keep the skin clean and oil free.
20’s Skin Type:
When you reach your 20’s your skin starts changing and is neither too young nor mature. It is still young but beginning to turn mature. During the early half of the 20’s you may find some fine premature wrinkles but they are not very evident. These lines may be seen near the eyebrows and also on the outer corners of the eyes. These lines, which are often called the laugh lines, are more visible when you smile. During the second half of the 20’s, these lines become more apparent, particularly around the eyebrows and the mouth. During this time the fatty cells may also move downwards. The face and the neck may become slightly softer than before. This is the correct time to start taking proper care of the skin, so that your skin stays young looking, healthy and glowing for a longer time.
30’s Skin Type:
If you are still negligent about your skin, this is the time when you must start pampering your skin with love and extra care. When you reach your 30s, the elasticity of your skin starts getting reduced and the moisture in the skin is also reduced. The repair mechanism of the skin becomes less efficient and as a result your skin begins to look tired and the glow of the skin is also reduced. As you reach your late 30s, the wrinkles become more apparent.
40’s Skin Type:
If you are still not taking care of your skin, start it right now, as it is better late than never. First of all get a bottle of moisturizer and apply on your skin. The wrinkles become deeper during the early half of the 40s. The neck area becomes more vulnerable to the process of aging as the sebaceous glands and the fat cells in this area start getting reduced. These are necessary for keeping the skin hydrated. During the later stages of 40s the elasticity of the skin starts getting lost and the bones become thinner. As a result the structure of the face starts showing changes. The collagen also starts getting softer and become dryer. The skin starts losing moisture as its ability to retain moistures is lowered.
The rate at which the skin age is increased during this period and the skin becomes thin, compressed and flat.
50’s Skin Type:
When you reach 50, your skin is mature and you have to give extra care to your skin. The chin changes significantly and the shape of the face around the jaw line and the chin is altered. The texture of your skin becomes thicker than before. The elasticity of the skin is almost lost and the collagen is also destroyed at fats rate.
60’s Skin Type:
Most of the women hit menopause by this age. This shows a lot of changes on your skin also. The structure and the functions of the skin changes greatly. Healing takes longer time but the bruising is more. The blood circulation is reduced and the ability of the skin to remove toxins is lowered. The skin becomes sensitive to infections. Vitamin D production is also lowered.
Some useful tips to look young:
- Apply a good sunscreen before going out in the sun.
- Drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water daily.
- Do not massage the skin vigorously.
- Exercise daily and flush out the toxins from the body.
- Start taking care of the skin at the early stage itself.
