Sometimes I just want something sweet…and chocolate.

I haven’t bought a brownie mix in ages, but if I were honest, I would tell you that I could easily pack about 3 squares away without batting an eye if I let myself.

So, I am super excited to share one of my absolute favorite dessert recipes with you!  My friend Shannon at Simply Smiles is amazing at creating healthy, grain-free recipes that actually cure that sugar-craving!  She invented the grain-free vanilla cake that I made for Miles’ birthday…the girl is awesome!

These bites make an awesome dessert for paleo parties, gluten-free folks, anyone!

People can’t believe that they are actually healthy once they try them!

She even has a video tutorial up!

Here are my few revisions, just based on ingredients I commonly have in my home: I used chia seeds instead of hemp, and they give a great energy boost – perfect for a pre-workout snack! (Ditch those nasty protein bars!!)  I use organic cocoa powder instead of carob.  I chill them before forming into little balls and roll the finished ball in coconut flakes.  Also, if you coat your hands in a bit of coconut oil before rolling it prevents sticking!

Don’t be afraid to mix it up a bit!

I hope you love them as much as we do!

Beware, these things will give you ENERGY, so maybe don’t make the mistake of giving them to your kids before bed like I did!
