Death Star Petition Doomed, Time for A New Darth Vader to Rise?

Posted on the 19 January 2013 by Nrjperera @nrjperera

Got some bad news for all the Star Wars fans. The petition that you guys made asking the US government to make a real Death Star has been rejected by the president Barack Obama. Apparently “The Administration does not support blowing up planets”.

Death-Star-Petition

The White House had some pretty obvious reasons to reject this petition. Check out the excerpt from the official statement.

The Administration shares your desire for job creation and a strong national defense, but a Death Star isn’t on the horizon. Here are a few reasons:

  • The construction of the Death Star has been estimated to cost more than $850,000,000,000,000,000. We’re working hard to reduce the deficit, not expand it.
  • The Administration does not support blowing up planets.
  • Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?

There you go. No Death Star, forever. And as a bonus for this silly petition, The White House has also toughened the rules. Now it requires 100,000 signatures within 30 days in order for a petition to get an official response.

So, this is it, it’s time to find a new Darth Vader and start building our own Death Star. I can be the chosen one. Just one question – Who wants to lend me $850,000,000,000,000,000?
