Days Out- Coughton Court Alcester
We recently made our second trip to a National Trust property and this time we decided to try Coughton Court (pronounced Coat-un) as we drive past it a lot but had never visited.
It is the home of the Throckmorton family who still live in part of the house (therefore not all of the house is available to view) and had links to the gunpowder plot.
I think the main attraction for me was being able to climb up the tower onto the roof as the views are amazing, but be warned to do this you need to traverse a steep spiral staircase and shout up as it is too narrow for two way traffic!

Entry to the house is on a timed ticket basis and you can choose your time when you arrive so we decided to wander around the gardens first.

The bog gardens were one of my favorite areas with huge hostas and winding paths that were lovely to walk through and the bonus of seeing some baby ducklings.

Our next stop was the more formal walled gardens and I loved the door in the wall, sometimes I like to think it takes you to secret magical places!

Sadly I didn't take any photos inside the house as my I was using my phone and it doesn't cope well in low light!
Overall we enjoyed our visit but I don't think we will be in hurry to return, the grounds were nice and there are more walks you can do but there wasn't as much to see in comparison to other sites.
Also be aware that if you are planning on visiting with your pooch in tow, dogs are not allowed beyond the car park so the only option you have is to use the public footpaths as they aren't allowed anywhere on site.
Also if you have youngsters there were a few outdoor games they could play but beyond that there wasn't much more to engage them.
Stay tuned for more days out coming soon!
