Cub Sport Release Glowing New Single ‘I’m On Fire’ [Premiere]

Now in their third year as a band, Brisbane’s Cub Sport, comprised of vocalist Tim Nelson, guitarist Zoe Davis, drummer Dan Puusaari and keyboardist Sam Netterfield, are preparing to release their debut album, This Is Our Vice, on March 4. We’re excited to offer a taste of the new music with “I’m on Fire”, a glowing, dense pop gem with Nelson’s strong melodies layered over the band’s driving instrumentals.

The subject matter of this seemingly empowering track, though, is actually “pretty fucked up” in the worlds of Tim Nelson. The metaphorical image of being “on fire” is a literal one, recalling the true story of a jilted lover who set herself on fire to teach her ex a lesson. She survived, however, which makes the story a lot more palatable, and this track one about making bold, decisive moves towards taking charge and getting yourself noticed.
