Monday night, CSS and IO Echo played the first of two New York shows at the Bowery Ballroom, and neither left their fans disappointed. IO Echo’s lead singer, Ioanna Gika, began the night by demanding the crowds attention, filling their ears and senses with the band’s unique blend of electronic/pop/goth. Then, CSS made their way to the stage, covering their new album, Planta, along with tracks from their 2005 debut Cansei De Ser Sexy, the latter receiving the biggest crowd reactions of the night. Overall a great show — IO Echo turned me into a fan and CSS reminded me why I’ve supported them all along.
