I thought I'd bring up this rule change if it hasn't already been discussed. Basically it means that if a runner with the ball runs 3 yards past the line of scrimmage, he can't lower their helmet to meet an oncoming defensive player.
Maybe I might be panicking a bit considering that the great backs lower the head inside the 3 yards and fight for the extra 1 or 2 yards but can you imagine the amount of f**king flags that will be thrown next season. I'm dying to know how the Rooney's voted on this rule I can't find any info on it.
Also I wonder if the rule change had an influence in taking Bell over Lacy apart from Lacy's Toe injury. Apparently Lacy has a tendency to drop the helmet and make contact unlike Bell who will try to avoid the tackle if possible. Bell tends to run upright which is considered a bad habit unless you had the balance of Jim Brown. Bell's and Lacy's strengths and weaknesses have literally been swapped because of this rule change.
Is the Bell pick a result of the rule change that came in March before the draft or am I thinking it to it too much?
Oh and its worth a 15 yard penalty from the spot of the foul too.
