My crispy oven baked buffalo wings are a football season staple. Skip the greasy fried wings and make a big batch of these in your oven.

It's football season! I have to admit, I'm not an avid fan, but the husband is, so I try to do my part. This usually involves me making some delish football food to watch the game with! I decided to share my tried and true recipe for oven baked wings. These oven fried buffalo wings are a football season staple in my house, and you can toss them with any number of tangy sauces, including barbeque, hoisin, or any number of fancy sauces you can come up with. Buffalo is my personal favorite, I'm a bit of a purist, what can I say? You can feel good about serving these to friends and family since there's no frying involved! Let's make some wings!

Why You Should Bake Your Wings Instead Of Frying

Once I found out how delicious and easy it was to make wings in your oven, I've never looked back! Baked wings are:

  1. Healthier- without the deep frying, you get wings that are lower in fat and total calories!
  2. Crispy- I've got tips to help you ensure you still get that nice crispy chicken wing texture.
  3. Easy prep - just a 5 minute prep time is all you need!

How To Make Crispy Chicken Wings In The Oven

Baking powder! Yes you read that right. Baking powder is the secret to making super-crispy wings in the oven. Not baking soda/bicarbonate! You must use baking powder, it usually comes in a can, unlike baking soda, which usually comes in a cardboard box.

How To Prepare Oven Baked Buffalo Wings

Season the wings with baking powder, salt, pepper, paprika and garlic powder. Place the wings onto a baking rack, and place the baking rack onto a baking sheet lined with foil.

Bake the wings at 400 degrees F for 40-50 minutes or until crunchy, flipping occasionally to promote even cooking.

Place the wings into a bowl, and pour the sauce over them. Toss thoroughly to coat.

Can You Make Buffalo Wings In The Air Fryer?

Absolutely yes! Just reduce the cooking time by 25-30%, since the air fryer tends to cook things faster than a convention oven. Test your wings with a meat thermometer to make sure that they're done. They should read 165°F internally when they're done.

What To Serve With Oven Baked Buffalo Wings

Serve these delish babies with blue cheese or ranch dip, and get ready to share the recipe, because this will disappear quickly! Enjoy the game!
