Crafting for Sandy Relief

If you’re subscribed to the etsy newsletter, you may have gotten the email announcing the Make it Better Craftalong. It’s an relief effort concocted by crafters Brett Bara from the Manhattan Craft Room and Natalie Soud from A Dose of Delightful, asking people to donate hand knit items to aid who have no power as a result of hurricane Sandy.

So you send your knit items to the Craftalong, then share a pic of what you sent on facebook/twitter/instagram/pinterest.
The goal is to get the word out and get crafty people involved in this cause.
How’s it work?

What are they asking for?
hats.
mittens.
scarves.
sweaters.
blankets.
things to keep people warm.

So far, the response has been overwhelming: they received over 1000 knit and crocheted items the first day. Sounds like a great cause to send your box of ‘knit for fun’ items to. But better hurry – the deadline to send items is this Friday, November 16.

For the rest of us who don’t have the time (or speedy hands) to whip up a hat between now and Friday, follow the Craftalong on facebook.

I’m excited to see the impact of this crafting relief!
