2. Penguins are carnivores. They get all their food from the sea. They make their food on fishes, crabs, prawns etc. An adult penguin can catch up to 30 fish in a single dive.
3. Penguins have wings but still they cannot fly, they only know how to swim.
4. To keep the body warm also, this bird’s brain is used. When the temperature drops, they form a sphere. Other penguins circle around the penguins that are inside the shell, when the body of the penguin inside becomes warm, it slowly comes out of the shell and other penguins go inside the shell.
5. It is the father’s job to look after the eggs of the penguins. After laying the egg, the mother leaves for a long hunt. Father Penguin stands for months with the eggs on his feet. He doesn’t eat for months. When the mother returns from the hunt, Father Penguin hands over the egg to her.
6. Newborns of penguins are not waterproof. Until their water-proof fins come, they remain outside the water.
7. Penguins like to live in large flocks. There can be 200 to 1000 or even more penguins in a group.
8. They can stay under water for 10 to 15 minutes without breathing. They do not have the ability to breathe underwater.
9. Penguins spend most of their life in water but come to earth only to lay eggs.
10. Penguins can jump 6 feet high. This bird can also swim under water at a speed of 16 kilometers per hour.
