By Parentingauthor @ParentingAuthor
My Summer Reading recommendation today is more of a "summer doing" kind of thing that families can do together! With the pandemic, more families have been cooking and baking together at home, and United Tastes of America: An Atlas of Food Facts & Recipes from Every State! by Gabrielle Langholtzis the perfect resource for finding easy, kid-friendly recipes that also teach children about geography and culture. This beautiful, jumbo-sized book is filled with full-color photographs of each recipe, plus fun illustrations and text that showcase popular foods and fun facts about various regions of the U.S. Recipes vary from main dishes (like Chicken-Fried Steak from Oklahoma), to desserts (like Key Lime Pie from Florida), snacks (like Granola with Hazelnuts and Cherries from Oregon), and side dishes (like Buttermilk Cornbread from Tennessee).
