Congratulations Lupita Nyong'o

Happy Monday! Just want to help preserve Lupita Nyong'o's big moment from last night. She took home Best Supporting Actress honors for "Twelve Years a Slave". The movie also took home Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture. Lupita portrayed "Patsey", a slave whom Solomon connected with while enslaved.

I would encourage everyone to see this movie. It is based on the true account of Solomon Northup, a free born man, living as a farmer and violinist in New York. He was kidnapped and drugged by slave traders and sold into slavery, ending up in New Orleans. He heartbreakingly remained away from his wife and children, who had no idea what happened to him from 1841-1853. Chiwetel Ejiofor, also nominated with a strong performance, portrays Solomon.

Its a mesmerizing, powerful, gripping tale of love, loss and the darker parts of U.S. history.

From Lupita's acceptance speech:

"...Yes! Thank you to the academy for this incredible recognition. It doesn't escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is thanks to so much pain in someone else's. And so I want to salute the spirit of Patsey for her guidance, and for Solomonthank you for telling her story and your own."

Such a classy lady, so happy for her!

Enjoy your day and I'll be back on Wednesday!
