The venture capital firm that Vinod Khosla created (after founding Sun Microsystems) has retained former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as a strategic advisor. RiceHadleyGates, the consulting company where she works, will “help the companies navigate government and regulatory concerns abroad and help with negotiating the world of emerging markets, understanding where to expand to.” Many US companies, even in their start-up stages are doing business overseas, which makes understanding those foreign markets more important.
According to Reuters, Rice and members of the Khosla team “first got to know each other while serving on the board of biomass fuels company KiOR.” The VC firm is known for its investments in clean technology.
