Seems to me that if you want to become a mature lady who has healthy relationships, you should probably learn to vocally communicate. And you already have an “app” for that: your mouth.
A New York University grad student, Monica Raffaelli (wh0 is 26), says she wants to end the awkward conversations couples have over menstruation. So she is developing an app to communicate your monthly menstruation status.
The NY Post reports that the app is named “Shvrk” and pronounced “Shark” — its designers say the “v” is “an inverted A for Vajayjay” — the app allows people to track their lovers’ time of the month.
The app sends notifications that warn a significant other when “shark week is coming,” she said. After one partner downloads the tongue-in-cheek app, they have to “cast a line” out to their honey so the information can sync up. The app can be synced with as many accounts as the user wishes.
The woman is supposed to record when Aunt Flo is in town, and the the couple will receive updates on future cycles. “No more misunderstandings, no more ending up in the doghouse, no more bloody surprises,” a mock-up of the forthcoming free iPhone app touts.
“I knew it would have to have some appeal to guys — like, you’ll get laid if you know about this,” explained Raffaelli.
Raffaelli, who is pursuing a master’s in integrated digital media, was given a prompt in her interactive design studio course to find a problem in her life and make it easier with a digital program. She immediately thought of her period and how uncomfortable it was to bring it up to her former long-distance boyfriend.
“We didn’t really talk about menstruation and periods, but it happens and it was always a surprise. That’s when I thought, ‘There should be a way for him to just know,’ ” she said.
The app will be available this spring. The exact date has yet to be determined.
