What week of the pandemic lockdown are we on now, the 6th week? I am starting to lose count. Who ever thought that being locked away at home would start to feel normal?
The longer this continues, the longer we will be putting on “comfort-wear.” The shoes in our closet have probably started to wonder if we moved away without packing them, we’re shopping for masks like we would any other accessories and nobody dares to put on pants without an elastic waist. Pandemic chic is just so terribly unstylish.
I am beyond tired of my leggings, which I never wore anywhere other than the gym before this and one thing I promised I would never do during this time was not to get out of my pajamas. So it got me thinking about comfortable pants that could be worn during this time that aren’t leggings, joggers or pajama bottoms. I put some outfits together using these alternatives and have plenty more for you to shop for at the end of this post.
Comfortable Pants that aren’t Leggings, Joggers, or Pajama Bottoms
Outfit #1
These wide-leg cropped pants from Bp. have an elastic waist and roomy legs that make them perfect for lounging on the couch and feeling pulled together when you head out for a socially distanced walk or wait on line to get into the grocery store. I styled these pants with a collared sweater from Everlane and a pair of printed espadrilles from Sam Edelman.
Outfit #2
Next, these stylish elasticized waist pants from Everlane. These pull-on trousers have an elastic waistband for a comfortable fit and clean pleats for a polished look. One of my clients has these pants and loves them. Keep in mind that it is recommended that you dry clean these pants, however, I think hand washing would be just fine.
I styled these pants with a summer sweater from Eileen Fisher and yellow sneakers from Ecco.
Outfit #3
These elasticized chinos give you an alternative to joggers without sacrificing comfort. I styled them with an olive cardigan from Mango and striped hemp and cotton t-shirt from Madewell. The look is finished with a pair of sustainable pair of mules from Dr. Scholl’s in gingersnap suede.
Outfit #4
This modern pair of wide-leg cropped pants from Cos gives a tailored look to comfort. I styled these pants with a smocked t-shirt and red loafers from Everlane.
Outfit #5
The pants in this last look may have a button and fly (remember those?) but they are relaxed enough to provide comfort. I styled them with a beachy sweater from J. Crew and rainbow sneakers from Saludos.
