Combi boiler leaking – please help!
Hello! I’ve been trying to do my own research but time is of the essence (I’m cold!!) so I am being greedy and looking for lots of help. Currently have a Glowworm Combi boiler but when we switch central heating on it starts to leak water from the unit. Until yesterday hot water working ok, now pilot won’t re-light. Oh, and losing pressure too. Looking like we might need to replace the whole boiler even though it was only installed 2000 (but before we moved in to the house).
Firstly does anyone know if this sounds like it’s worth repairing? (based on those very vague details!!)
Secondly can anyone recommend a boiler for 2bed terraced house (if we need to replace the old one) – presumably we would need a condensing type now? Any ideas of reasonable cost?

all the problems may be related. It would certainly lose pressure if the water is leaking. If the pressure drops too low there is probably a safety cut out that stops the pilot light working. Either that or water has leaked to the pilot light and cut out.
2000 is not old for a boiler, I think a repair would be more sensible. After all, if a tap leaks you don’t replace the tap.
Phone the manufacturer, they may offer a scheme where they do the repair and one year warrenty for a reasonablish charge.
I had a similar problem in the above post with our Worcester Boiler. In the end after 2 days of not hot water/heating, it was repaired, and it was all down to a small valve that had gotten stuck in the open position. Definately worth getting it repaired our cost about £60 all in for it to be fixed.

Have already phoned manufacturer (GLOWWORM) but they can’t/won’t come out until early next year!!!!!!!!!
Encouraging to know about the valve problem – someone now coming to investigate on Saturday.
