Coloured coconut balls are great for any occasion, I've made them for Diwali this year and keeping these coconut coloured ladoo simple with no cardamom or saffron - very children friendly.
These are great to make with children, as they enjoy rolling balls and covered in coconut, and obviously picking the colours.
Condensed milk is brilliant for this type of dessert as from start to finish it takes less than 30 minutes for a great treat.
Ingredients
300g Desiccated Coconut
300ml Condensed Milk
1 Tsp Ghee
Food Gel Colours
Desiccated Coconut for Rolling
Instructions
In a small pan, add a little gheem, 100ml of condensed milk, 100g coconut and a little food colour.
Stir well, and over medium heat cook for about a few minutes until all the mixture comes together and the pan becomes very dry. Set the mixture to the side to cool a little while you make the other 2 colours.
Again, add a further 100ml condensed milk and 100g coconut to the pan with some more food colouring, stir and cook.
Continue with the last colour and remaining condensed milk and coconut, stir and cook until the pan becomes dry and mixture thickens and holds together.
Once the mixture is cool enough to hand, take a little ball of each colour
Roll together to make a colourful bigger ball
Roll in desiccated coconut
Now allow the balls to completely cool
