It's makeup season this June! And I couldn't be more excited when a treasure trove of CLIO's 2016 newly launched products were delivered at my door step. Already a star in my books for its pocket-friendly prices yet delivering high-performance results; this summer sees a serum-infused high-impact foundation, gradient-style eyebrow pencil and 4 exciting new shades of lippies!
What am I talking about? Find out more after the jump!
CLIO launches its first ever Kill Cover Airwear Protexture Foundation ($29.90) features its-kind mineral foundation and skincare serum in one. Yes, you hear right, skincare and makeup in one! It has a very watery, light consistency, that gets very quickly absorbed by the skin. It contains an infusion of 43% essence and a blend of velvet polymer ingredients, which leaves my skin looking matte, brightened and quite flawless! A multi-functional makeup, it boasts 9-in-1 skincare effects :
• Provide coverage• Nourish• Provide radiance• Lifting effect• Brighten• Eliminate Imperfections• Illuminate• Firm• Moisturize
The Kill Cover Airwear Protexture Foundation features CLIO’s exclusive Air Touch Technology to create a soft and airy feeling as one applies it to the skin, while its innovative light technology helps diminish the appearance of lines and brightens up the complexion. And fret not if you have drier skin; the Kill Cover Airwear Protexture Foundation uses a moisture capture formula to provide skin the healthy hydration it needs.
Available in two ultra blendable shades:
003 Linen: A light, pale beige shade that is great for those with a fair complexion.
004 Ginger: A medium beige with slight peach undertones, and matches my skin tone perfectly.
I was sent the special brush set where there is a complimentary flat head brush, with a slight angled shape. It was also cut to create a 'cup' where you can pour the liquid foundation in, then easily buff all over your face for a more even distribution and finish. And I'm impressed because its synthetic fibers are actually soft yet dense enough to buff the product in.
And here is how it looks with full application on the face: while you can see that the coverage is almost near perfect even without powder setting, with blemishes needing just a small touch of concealer. True to its name, it really feels very light on the skin...almost feeling like its barely there! My complexion takes well to the formulation without balling, and I appreciate that it goes well even when I layer above a serum, moisturizer and sunscreen!
Brows brows brows: CLIO's literally assumed Master status in my books. Previously we've seen pencil, felt tips and mascara types, but this season we are going back to good old eyebrow crayon. One problem I've faced is that when you repeat strokes, the resulting color can look overbearingly harsh and flat. However, the Kill Brow Gradation Dual Eyebrow's oblique shape also helps to reach brow arches and tapered ends easily, and the dual tone helps to create a very soft wash of color to give that 3D effect!
I've been very used to the usual mascara types but I found myself switching easily to the Kill Brow Gradation Dual Eyebrow ($17.90). At initial use, you may have to break into the crayon bullet by running it over your hand abit. It glides on smoothly, and has decent pigmentation that one layer can give pretty good distinction and definition.
01 Natural Brown: dark chocolate brown shade that's paired with a dusty gray brown. Abit too dark for my liking but if you have think brows, this will work great.02 Light Brown: is closer to my new hair color, and is a medium brown coupled with a hazel light brown.
If you have read my previous review on CLIO's Tension Lip range ($22.90), you'll see I've been waxing lyricals about it. For a pocket-friendly price, it boasts one of the most long-lasting lip colors..and I like the fact that it doesn't really bleed out but kinda fades off into a softer hue through the course of day. Its formulation is great especially for those with dry lips prone to cracking, because it helps to cover the lip wrinkle crevices well.
#6 Bangarang: A true brick red, with a tad of bluish undertone, but still flattering on my warm skintone. I like that it counteracts my naturally dark-brownish tinged lips to give a lovely red lippie.#8 Chu: LOVE! This deep berry shade is gorgeous for pulling together a polished night look without being vampy-goth.#17 Love Me Over: The shade you see actually comes out abit more #18 Kiss Me Tender: The lightest hue of all, its a light medium-rose pink that brightens out my complexion.
I think I got some really gorgeous shades for review! The Tension Lip shades feel very creamy on the lips, and glides on smoothly to give a very even semi-glossy sheen. In fact, just a single application gives very decent color, but 2 or more will give the shade a full punch. My faves would have to be Chu and Kiss Me Tender, which I can see myself wearing as an everyday look!
