Last month, Clinique Philippines provided free makeup tutorial sessions to welcome Chinese New Year. I was able to book a reservation at Rustan’s Alabang last week. I’ve only tried lipgloss-lipstick duo and mascara from Clinique, gifts from a friend. I wanted to know more how they makeup will work on me so I gave it a shot.
Hold on, brace yourselves for my bare face! I didn’t wear any makeup when I went there since I know they will just remove it, wasted effort will be my ending if I did. First, she applied Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Milk and used Clinique 3-step skincare system (mild soap, toner, and moisturizer). I felt a little stinging sensation with their toner.
Now for the base, she used Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream. I’m not aware they also have CC Cream. I like how lightweight it is on my skin, made it look more flawless and ready for some foundation action. Oh by the way, they sanitized their makeup tools before using it on me which I appreciate a lot. They also practice hygiene even with their testers.
She asked what kind of look I want, since I don’t have any important event that day, I just asked for something casual and good for everyday look. I like this Clinique Even Better Foundation with SPF 15 PA++. It’s perfect for everyday wear if you like using foundation on a daily basis. It’s not cakey or heavy on skin. The fact that it has sun protection factor, you can skip sunblock.
Finished the canvas with Clinique Even Better Powder Makeup with SPF 25/PA++. You might be thinking, oh we have 15 + 25 = SPF 40. NO, it doesn’t work that way. Our skin will consider the higher SPF, so it’s SPF 25/PA+++. It’s a great combo with the foundation plus, I love the coverage. No need for concealer.
Here are the different shades available. We used the 2nd from the left for my whole face, then the darker shade on the left-most of the palette for my contour.
For the eyes, nothing drastic, just the neutral colors then blended them nicely. I like the pigmentation of their eyeshadows. I learned that I really have to apply eyeshadows gradually. I’m guilty with getting a lot from the pan then just lessen it with lighter colors which is wrong. I have to work on my patience with eye makeup application *laughs* Most of the time were taken by applying eyeshadows on my lids during the session.
For the mascara, it really worked in lengthening my lashes. Not sure though with the curl department, since she didn’t use eyelash curler to curl my lashes prior to mascara.
Clinique Long Lasting Lipstick
It is indeed long lasting. Right after the session, me and bf went out for lunch. I ate steak and drank water but the lipstick didn’t fade totally. I believe it would’ve last longer without eating nor drinking. I am curious to get one from Clinique soon.
I forgot to take photos of the blush used on my cheeks but as you can see, it’s a pinkish shade. It’s highly pigmented as well. She just swept off the brush very lightly on the pan and built the color on my cheeks in just a few swipes.

Closer Look
This makeup is perfect for casual to everyday makeup look. It took us almost one and a half hour to make this. Yes, natural makeup is not effortless. That’s something I’ve learned when I started to explore makeup. Before I thought, natural makeup look is something you can do in just 5 minutes, but no, that’s not even close to reality, eh.

It’s my first time to do this and I really enjoyed the one on one session. I got samples of Clinique Pore Refining Solutions because it’s the main problem of my skin. I have super visible pores. Let’s see if how it will work, I’ll update you soon.
