What a year it's been for Dallas Green fans. After an epic return from Alexisonfire after nine years, we're also getting new music from City and Colour.
Returning from a four-year hiatus, Dallas delivers a stellar track entitled Astronaut. New music is what fans have been waiting for, and we're thrilled with the return of City and Colour.
There's also an album announcement, which will be released on Still Records, Dallas' new imprint over at Dine Alone Records, and tour dates (in addition to previously announced festival dates) were announced today as well. The Canadian arena tour opens on the west coast in Victoria, BC on November 8 and ends on the east coast in Halifax, NS on November 29.
Buy a ticket online for the Canadian tour and that purchase will include the choice of a digital or physical CD copy of the forthcoming full-length album. Joining City and Colour for the Canadian branch of the tour is Nigerian-born British singer-songwriter Jacob Banks, and BC based songwriter Ben Rogers, the first signing to Green's Still Records.
Astronaut is everything and at six-minutes it feels anything but long. Produced by three-time Grammy-winning Jacquire King, the song is the first taste of City And Colour's forthcoming 6th studio album. The track delivers the sweet haunting sound fans are accustomed to, and it leaves us wanting more.
"I always think of the relationships in my life that have been fractured because I ended up doing what I do for a living," says Green about. "I'm always gone, wandering around and singing songs. However, it weighs on my family and friends. I'm asking for 'one more year'. I left home at 21 to go play my guitar. It's lonely, but it's because I yearn to wander. I'm aware of how lucky I am." - Dallas Green, press release
You can listen to/purchase Astronaut here.
If you live in Nashville, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston or New York, you're in for a special treat.
The U.S. portion of the tour starts on October 9 and features two back-to-back nights in Nashville, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston and New York.
One night in each city will take place in a seated theatre, featuring Green performing an intimate solo show with stripped-down iterations of songs spanning his award-winning catalogue - something fans have been requesting for years. The extra night in each city will take place in general admission rock venues and feature Green performing with his full touring band.
Backing up City and Colour in the United States from solo shows will be Ben Rogers, and for full band shows, it'll be alternative singer-songwriter, Ruby Waters.
It might be time for a road trip!
Tickets go on sale Friday, June 7 at 10:00 AM local time, with pre-sales starting Tuesday, June 4. Visit the City and Colour website for details.
