Here’s a very quick knit project I want to share with you. My extremely talented mom knit a very nice circular scarf for me from yarn leftovers she had stashed in her closet. The yarn being bulky makes knitting of this infinity scarf very fast and pleasant. My mom added a thin metallic thread to bring some shimmer to the black scarf. I simply love the result.
Materials:
– size 10 1/2 (7.0mm) Straight Knitting Needles
– 1 skein of any bulky yarn ( 1 skein = 100 grams ),
– 1 skein of metallic cotton viscose yarn ( 1 skein = 50 grams ),
– yarn needle
Gauge:
11 sts and 14 rows = 4×4in or 10×10cm
Size:
Circumference – 60in/152cm
Width – 11in/28cm
Abbreviations:
CO – cast on
K – Knit
P – Purl
Instructions
Step 1. Take one strand of bulky yarn and one strand of metallic cotton yarn and cast on 36 stitches. Knit 7.5in/18cm in stockinette stitch ( K row on right side and P row on wrong side);
Step 2. Knit7.5in/18cm in garter stitch ( K rows on both right and wrong sides);
Step 3. Repeat steps 1-2 three more times. As a result you will have four sections of stockinette stitch interchanged with four sections of garter stitch;
Step 4. Fold the scarf in half and join two ends together.
Voila!
