do love making home and hand made Christmas presents for teachers, so with the theme of the past few years and trying to stay creative like my Cookie Jar DIY gifts, Brownie in a Jar, Mug Cake Mix or my Reindeer Hot Chocolate Mix.
So Here is my 'Christmas in a Jar' do it your self-homemade gifts for the festive season. This is what I would call an active present, where you have to do something to see the end, like bake yourself a mince pie.
A Jar of homemade Vegetarian Mincemeat and then a jar of pastry mix to make your very own mince pies! All you need to add is a little butter and drops of orange juice or water!
Use the Vegetarian Mince Meat (click on the link) recipe for the Christmas in a Jar element but spoon into 110ml jars, then using the same size jar for the pastry mix combine 60g of plain flour, 20g of icing sugar, a pinch of dried orange zest and mix together before spooning into sterilised jars. Create some instructions to add 50g of butter and a few drops or water or orange juice to make the pastry, then chill, roll and bake for 15-20 minutes.
This year I'm feeling a little sad as my little boy ( no so little) will be going to secondary school in September and so this maybe the last time I make so many. I usually end of making these gifts for teachers in the year group, teacher assistants, brownies/scouts leaders and other afterschool club teachers - for both children and this ended up being about 14-18 little gifts packs.
I tend to make an instructions tag and a from tag to add the extra special touch. I've always gotten great feedback for my hand made personalised presents. It's also nice having the kids help with ties and curling the ribbons and laminating and cutting tags while singing Christmas Carols.
