Chicken (or Turkey) a la King Recipe
Leftover chicken or turkey giving you the eye? Consider trying this Chicken (or Turkey) a la King recipe!
It’s a cinch to fix. Although I am not a huge fan of mushrooms, chopped very small so I don’t have to look at them, I admit it adds a little something.
I put the filling inside (and over) a puff pastry shell but I think it would be equally great served over this homemade biscuit recipe. I used leftover sauce on pasta the next day. Delicious and apparently rather versatile. From Food.com.

Ingredients
- 3 Tablespoons Butter
- 6 -8 Fresh Mushrooms, Sliced
- 1 -2 Tablespoon Garlic, Minced
- 2 1/2 Tablespoons Flour (use 3 tablespoons for a thicker sauce)
- 1 Pinch Cayenne Pepper (optional)
- 1 Cup Chicken Broth
- 2 teaspoons Chicken Bouillon Powder
- 1/2 Cup Whipping Cream, Unwhipped
- 2 Cups Cooked Turkey or Chicken, Chopped
- 3/4-1 Cup Canned Corn Kernels, well drained or 3/4-1 cup Frozen Peas, Thawed
- 1/4-1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
- 3 Tablespoons Pimiento
- Salt and Pepper to Taste
Instructions
- Melt Butter in large skillet over medium heat.
- Add Mushrooms and cook until tender.
- Add in Garlic and cook for 2 - 3 minutes.
- Add in Flour and Cayenne Pepper (if using). Stir for one minute.
- Carefully pour in Broth and Bouillon Powder. Cook and stir until thickened.
- Pour in Whipping Cream. Add in Turkey or Chicken, Corn or Peas, and simmer for 5 - 6 minutes.
- Stir in Parmesan Cheese, Pimento, Salt and Pepper.
- Pour into cooked Puff Pastry Shells or Homemade Biscuits.
- Serve.
