MyFoxChicago: Three men were killed and at least 25 other people were wounded — including a 15-year-old boy — in shootings across Chicago since 5 p.m. Friday.
Officers found a man shot to death in a West Englewood neighborhood home late Saturday on the South Side, police said. The 30-year-old was discovered in a home in the 1700 block of West 59th Street about 11:20 p.m. by officers responding to a call of a person shot, police said. The man was unresponsive at the scene with a gunshot wound to the head.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:39 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The man lived in the home where he was found dead, authorities said. A police source said he was a documented gang member.
Early Saturday, a man was killed and three others were hurt in a shooting in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, police said. The four men were inside a vehicle about 3 a.m. when they were shot in the 4400 block of West Van Buren, police said.
A 20-year-old man was shot in the face and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:32 a.m., according to police and the medical examiner’s office. His name was withheld Saturday afternoon pending notification of his family.
A 23-year-old was also taken to Mount Sinai in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his back. The two other men, ages 23 and 24, were taken to Stroger Hospital. The 23-year-old was in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the leg, while the condition of the 24-year-old — who was shot in the buttocks — had stabilized, police said.
About 9:20 p.m. Friday, a man was shot and killed in the South Deering neighborhood on the Far South Side. Tony McIntosh, 20, was outside in the 10600 block of South Yates when someone walked up and shot him in the head, police said.
McIntosh was smoking cigarettes on the back porch of his family’s home when the shooting happened, said his aunt, Traci Armstrong, 44. His mother, she said, is a certified nursing assistant and performed CPR on her son before paramedics arrived. “It happened right in front of his mother,” Armstrong said. “It doesn’t seem real. Who does that?”
McIntosh, who lived on the block he was shot, was taken to Trinity Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.
The most recent nonfatal shooting happened Sunday morning in the South Deering neighborhood. About 10:15 a.m., a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were inside a vehicle traveling in the 9500 block of South Jeffery when a white SUV pulled up next to them and someone inside opened fire, police said.
The 17-year-old was shot in the wrist and thigh. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition. The 18-year-old was shot in the back and was taken to the same hospital in serious condition, police said.
The suspects drove away and turned east when they then opened fire and struck a 15-year-old boy in the 2000 block of East 96th Street, police said. The boy was shot in the back, chest and taken to Christ Medical Center in serious condition.
Earlier, a man was shot in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side Sunday morning. The 21-year-old was in a vehicle at a stop sign in the 4600 block of West Adams when a male walked up at 5:38 a.m., police said. He started shooting when the 21-year-old began driving away. The man was shot in the upper lip and drove himself to Loretto Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, police said.
At least 18 other people have been shot across the city since 5 p.m. Friday.
