Chicago Church Joins the Trayvon Race-baiters

By Eowyn @DrEowyn

Reacting to last Saturday’s Zimmerman jury verdict of “not guilty,” this is the sign put out by the First Baptist Church of University Park, a suburb of Chicago:

CBS Chicago reports, July 16, 2013, that the sign has generated much controversy among University Park residents.

Several comments on the church’s Facebook page took issue with the reference to the Ku Klux Klan in the word Amerikkka, with many saying the church’s sign is hateful and divisive and implies that all white Americans are racist.

University Park resident Darnell Crawford said, “We know as black Americans what’s going on in our society. It doesn’t need to be exploited on a sign.”

Others, like Bettie Wayne, agree with the sign. Wayne said, “I think he is right. A black man is still not safe in the United States.”

The church responded by saying: “The message on the sign is not a message of hate. It is a message of awakening and call to action. It is a message not intended to divide, but to cause honest reflection in order to make this country a better place for ALL.” The pastor, Reginald Williams, also says he hopes the criticism he has received can be channeled to attack institutional racism in America.

The church has since changed the wording into a question: “Is It Safe To Kill Black People In America?”

“It Is Safe To Kill Black People In Amerikkka”

Really?

Why don’t you ask Blacks that question?

Why don’t you ask Blacks in Chicago that question?

There have been 20 homicides in the first week of July 2013 in Chicago. The victims are (source: RedEye Chicago):

  2. July 8: Ed Cooper, a 15 year old black male, caused by a gunshot in Humboldt Park.
  3. July 8: Georgina Randell, a 30 year old black female, caused by a gunshot in North Lawndale.

  14. July 4: Theodis Young, a 36 year old black male, caused by a gunshot in Greater Grand Crossing.

  16. July 3: Rayford Brown, a 24 year old black male, caused by a gunshot in South Shore.
  17. July 3: William Jones, a 26 year old black male, caused by a gunshot in Auburn Gresham.
  18. July 3: Damani Henard, a 14 year old black male, caused by a gunshot in Austin.
  19. July 2: Ashley Hardmon, a 19 year old black male, caused by a gunshot in Austin.
  20. July 2: Terrence Graves, a 23 year old black male, caused by a gunshot in Washington Heights.

Notice a pattern? Um?

In fact, the death toll by murder in Chicago over the past decade is greater than the number of American forces who have died in Afghanistan since the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom, according to a police analysis. Read more here.

Chicago vs. Afghan war death rates

In fact, the Department of Justice’s own statistics say that not only are Blacks disproportionately victims of homicides, almost all of them are black-on-black killings. In 2005, Blacks accounted for 49% of all homicide victims in the United States — 93% of which were committed by their fellow Blacks.

So when race-baiters like “Rev.” Reginald Williams of the First Baptist Church of University Park put up a public sign that says “It Is Safe To Kill Black People In Amerikkka,” he really should point his finger back at his own “people.”
