Whenever in doubt - just wear black, or so they say. While black might be the simplest color that looks chic and elegant in virtually any situation, you might want to give some brighter colors a chance too. Over the past few seasons, everyone from fashion designers to Instagram influencers has been wearing more and more bright colors and unexpected color combinations, and if you're looking for inspiration, we're here to help. We give you a brief list of chic color combinations you can wear this season.
Grey and yellow
When you're looking for something that's neutral but still manages to catch everyone's eye, you can always go for the grey + yellow combo. Both colors are simple but when you put them together, nobody will be able to take their eyes off you. You can do it in a simple way: a grey pencil skirt with a pale yellow shirt, a grey dress with a yellow scarf and handbag, a yellow maxi skirt with an oversized fluffy grey sweater... The possibilities are many and once you see how well these colors look on you, soon enough your wardrobe will be full of pieces with these hues.
Emerald and fuchsia
For those who aren't afraid to stand out, emerald and fuchsia is the perfect combination. Both colors are bold and bright, but when you wear them together, you'll look amazing. If you want the look to be simple, just wear an emerald blouse to work and pair it with a fuchsia scarf and earrings, or tie an emerald silk scarf around your fuchsia handbag's handle. You can easily find such pieces in a well-supplied online clothing store and buy something that will spice up your style. Of course, you can take it a step further and combine pretty little emerald sandals with a light A-line fuchsia skirt and top it all off with a silver handbag.
Poppy red and lilac
Some might hesitate to wear this combination because they are afraid that the colors are too similar to go well together, but instead of clashing them, you can combine these hues so that they give you a fresh, youthful look. Because both colors are warm, it's best to pair them with metallic accessories and details: silver nail polish, chunky bracelets, statement brooches and hair clips. Pair a poppy red pair of skinny jeans with an oversized lilac sweater with super long sleeves, and put on silver stilettos. On the other hand, you can always wear a pale lilac mini dress and combine it with bright red block heel shoes and a sparkly clutch bag, or a lilac midi dress with a red jacket .
Navy and orange
Color blocking works really good in interior design, art, and it looks great on your outfit. Navy and orange go very well together and they're easy to mix and match: blue pants and an orange top will certainly draw everyone's attention. You can always try to find a single piece too that combines the two hues in the right way, but it isn't always easy. The easiest solution is to work with accessories such as jewelry, scarves, handbags, tights and headbands. You don't want to overdo it though, so when you pick the right clothes, go for nude shoes because this will draw more attention to your outfit.
Maroon and tan
When you want to go for something simple yet make a statement with your outfit, this is the perfect combination. Tans and nudes are simple, they go well with pretty much any color, and the best thing is that they actually emphasize it, especially if the other color is bold and eye-catching like maroon. Maroon faux leather pants combined with a soft beige sweater and a chunky belt will make you look like you've just stepped off the runway. A short maroon skirt and a simple tan tee look even better when you grab an animal print bag and throw a big shawl over your shoulders.
Stepping out of your comfort zone is never easy no matter what we're talking about - new hobbies, new jobs, or new color combinations. On the other hand, if you never experiment with your clothes, you'll never discover just how good different styles and hues look on you. Take baby steps and dare to incorporate some of these chic and daring combinations into your everyday look.
