A five-piece fronted by the lovely Christiana Bartolini, Cherokee Red hail from Wilkes Barre, PA and released their self-titled debut last April. Compiled from songs the band wrote when they first began performing together in 2011, the album was crafted with a distinguishably hazy and dream-like quality. Beginning with the track “Vaya Con Dios”, Cherokee Red sets a hypnotic tone, lulling you into the band’s whirling atmosphere. Bartolini’s vocals are passionate and beautiful, seamlessly adding to the tranquility of the song. The record’s pace quickens with tracks “Lonely Summer” and “Mythomania”, but, as a full body of work, remains pleasantly laid back. Overall, Cherokee Red’s music is soft, delicate, delightful and garners comparisons to bands like Fleetwood Mac and Beach House.
