What is the Chelsea Fringe I hear you ask? The Chelsea Fringe is an alternative to the Chelsea Flower Show, with many small and quirky, horticulturally-related, often free events wrapping around the dates of the Chelsea Flower Show, in London and also much further afield. I’ve noticed that Seattle has a really exciting list of events this year.

Come and marvel at the dog with the waggiest tail, the dog with the best headdress, the best dog trick, best young dog handler, the dog that looks most like its owner, (or the owner who looks most like their dog) and the dog you’d most like to take home.
As ever, the BTG will be giving away FREE plants and seeds (thanks to sponsorship from Islington Council and Neilson and Bauer, our local Estate Agents) and there’ll be oodles of free coffee and cakes to savour, along with sparkling conversation with local residents.
If you live in the area and want to be involved, please do get ion contact. Everyone is welcome, with or without a dog! If you’d like to pre-register your dog, you can do this on Eventbrite or simply turn up on the day.
The Fringe have also hooked up with Great Dixter’s Michael Wachter for a fabulous evening foraging walk at Great Dixter, nr Rye on Saturday 21st May, 2-5pm. Experienced forager and lecturer Michael Wachter will be holdingh an exclusive evening walk around Great Dixter with a focus on edible wild plants. From 5.00 pm till 7.00 pm Michael will take you on a journey exploring the relationship between humans and nature. We will discuss how for thousands of years humans acted as keystone species being part of the landscape and how we today can rekindle this connection. This multi-sensual event includes Fire, music, wild tea from the land, and cake. Tickets are £24.50 and again, can be booked on Evenbrite. Really looking forward to this!
There are loads more interesting events to enjoy from floral-bashed flower installations, to photographic exhibitions, therapeutic landscape walks, open commmunity gardens and a tour around Batù’s vegetable garden in Naples. Wish I could get to them all!
