Philly group Cheerleader released their debut album The Sunshine Of Your Youth back in May, and we’re still discovering great things about it. For example, deep cut “Do What You Want” is a sunshiney, feel-good gem of jangle-pop. Hazy guitars and gently tinkling piano lines make for smooth sailing as the lead singer describes a day in the life, with all its ups and down: “I was falling down, but I got up / Still wasn’t enough.” The ideal soundtrack for a humid July afternoon when all you wanna to do is what you wanna do, Cheerleader’s gentle tune encourages you to go for it. “And I always thought you should do what you want, do what you want”— sounds great to me!
