July 1-14, 2011, New York Asian Film Festival,

July 2, 2011-September 3,20ll, Cool down at PS 1’s Warm-up parties with music, dancing, and oh yeah, art! Cheap Chick Cheap Tip: LIC residents get in for free!

July 5, 2011-August 14, 2011-The Lincoln Center Festival hosts a variety of events featuring ballet, music, and dance!

July 6-August 11, 2011-Sing-a-long to show tunes as performers from the latest shows take to the stage during Broadway in Bryant Park!

July 6-24, 2011-24, 2011-Hopefully the play won’t seem like it’s lasting for 100 years, as New York Classical Theater performs Henry V Travel from England (Castle Clinton/ Battery Park) and travel across the English Channel (New York Harbor) by boat to France (Governors Island) during their free outdoor performances of the Bard’s classic. Note: Special wristbands, distributed 5:00-6:30pm on the day of each performance in front of Castle Clinton, will be required for ferry transportation to Governors Island. Limit 2 wristbands per person.

July 6-October 8, 2011-Jam to free outdoor concerts during the Oval Lawn Series at Madison Square Park,

July 7, 2011-July 28, 2011-Reading alfresco is the way to go! Begin today as Mad Square Reads, a reading series in Madison Square Park kicks off today and runs on Thursdays through July.

July 7-Get ready Geeks! The Paley Center is hosting a free Syfy tweet-up event where all your viewing questions will be answered!

July 7-August 4, 2011-Oooh those summer nights! Have a blast at the Jewish Museum’s SummerNights concert series,

July 8, 2011-Los Lobos hit the Prospect Park Bandshell tonight with Hello Seahorse!

July 8-August 26-Target Passport Fridays include dance, film and music at the Queens Museum of Art,

July 9, 2011-The Bell House hosts MySpace the Party! Will Facebook be jealous? (scroll down to specific event.)

July 10, 2011-Say oui and celebrate Bastille Day on 60th Street with food, performances, and arts and crafts during this annual Francophile street fete!

July 10-August 1, 2011-Music and art come together at MOMA’s Summergarden concert, featuring jazz and classical players from the Juilliard School and Jazz at Lincoln Center series in their outdoor sculpture garden,

July 11, 2011-Don’t be a diva, go out and hit a high note with the free Met Opera in the Park concerts,

July 11, 2011-Eugene Mirman, They Might Be Giants, Kristen Schaal play at the Williamsburg Waterfront tonight for free tonight,

July 11-16, 2011-Get down, pump the volume, and get jiggy with it (and all those other phrases that show I know nothing about the latest music slang) at the Brooklyn Hip-hop Festival!

July 12, 2011-She’s truly outrageous, a music company owner by day and a rocker in Jem and the Holograms by night! Tonight the Bell House is hosting a slumber party celebrating everything Jem complete with a cover band, trivia, sing-a-long, makeover stations, sugary cereal, show viewing, plus tons of other activities! July 14, 2001-Viva la France! Celebrate Bastille Day in Brooklyn on Smith Street, where America’s largest Petanque Festival will take place! (current ws not available.)

July 14, 2011-Bring another dime for the jukebox baby (!) as Joan Jett and the Blackhearts take the stage at Brooklyn’s Seaside Concert series,

July 16, 2011-Water, water everywhere around the city! Soak it up today with the City of Water Day Festival, which includes tours on historic vessels, waterfront ecology classes, nautical stories, and a giant flotilla!

July 16, 2011-The Siren Song has ended this summer, with the close of the Village Voice’s Siren Music Festival. Now the Voice is sponsoring the Voice is sponsoring the 4Knots Music Festival at South Street Seaport this summer!
