The Philosophy of Physics Society invites applications for the position of Editor-in-Chief of the society’s new journal, Philosophy of Physics.
The society is in the advanced stages of the creation of an Open Access journal Philosophy of Physics and seeks a founding Editor-in-Chief who will work with the society to establish the journal as the leading venue worldwide for scholarship in the philosophy of physics, broadly construed.
Preliminary logistical and financial arrangements have already been made for the journal’s publication on an Open Access basis with no publication fees and a minimal submission fee. The founding Editor-in-Chief will have the opportunity to give input into the principles for the management of the journal including the terms of the editorial brief and the composition of the founding Editorial Board. The Editor-in-Chief will be responsible for the nomination of an editorial team, expected to include three to six Associate Editors and will serve a renewable term of four years.
The Editor-in-Chief must hold a tenured academic appointment, have a distinguished research record in philosophy of physics, and be capable of judicious and prompt interaction with contributors. Association with an institution able to provide material support to the editorial office of the journal would be an advantage. Applications for joint editorship are welcome.
Initial applications for the Editor-in-Chief of Philosophy of Physics should summarize the applicant’s qualifications for the editorship and describe any available institutional support, such as teaching release or graduate student assistance. A 1-2 page document is requested, along with a copy of the applicant’s CV. Please submit applications by e-mail attachment to [email protected] by 1st August 2021.
The Philosophy of Physics Society is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the field and welcomes applications from members of underrepresented groups.
