GE Announces App that Enables Remote Oven Control
Want to start preheating your oven on your drive home so it will be ready when you arrive? Now with GE’s new Brillion app, you can do just that. Free for Android and iOS platforms, this app not only allows you to preheat your oven, but also set the timer, check on the cooking status, and get updates on when your food will be ready. LG Discusses HomeChat, New Features, and Studio Line
Previously, LG’s appliances were all controlled through different apps, but they have since consolidated into one smart platform they are calling HomeChat, an innovative SMS messaging system. This allows you to send commands to your dryer, ask your oven for recipe suggestions, get updates on the wash cycle status of your washing machine, receive alerts, and much more all through text messages.
New features will be introduced to LG’s appliances. EasyClean, a three-step self-clean setting, will be added to their microwaves and wall ovens. TurboWash, which is supposed to reduce wash cycles by 20 minutes per load and increase energy efficiency, is going to be included in their front-load washing machines.
Finally, LG continues to roll out their Studio line of premium appliances. For future generations of these products, they have partnered with celebrity decorator Nate Berkus who plans on assisting them with design work.

Dacor Updates Discovery IQ Luxury Appliance Line
Last year, Dacor debuted their high-end appliance line Discovery IQ with a smart double oven. While this oven wowed audiences at the time with its use of Android technology, it was fairly limited, not offering remote cooking capabilities. This year, they have created an app to counter this problem.
This app can also be used with Dacor’s new dual-fuel range. Designed for wealthy cooking enthusiasts who often hold large gatherings where they cook for several people, this model features six brass burners, two oven compartments, ten different convection cooking modes… and a $12,000 price tag.
Samsung Explains Smart Home Platform, Unveils High-Capacity Washer & Dryer Pairs

Many appliance brands have gone the way of smart technology, but Samsung is taking it a step further. All of your appliances and devices will be connected through their Samsung Smart Home platform. The three main services this offers are Device Control, Home View, and Smart Customer Service. Other brands provide device control, so this service is familiar enough, but what about the other two? Home View accesses the cameras built into several Samsung appliances, letting you check up on your home. Smart Customer Service helps you get a better grip on when your appliances need to be serviced.
Samsung also has new models of both front-load and top-load washers and dryers. The most exciting things about these laundry pairs are their size and their features. The washers are 5.6 cubic feet, and the dryers are 9.5 cubic feet. According to Samsung, their washers will fit two king-size comforters in one cycle.
Some notable features are SuperSpeed, PowerFoam, and AquaJet. The SuperSpeed technology decreases the wash cycle to just 30 minutes. Building onto this efficiency, the PowerFoam feature dissolves detergent before the cleaning cycle to wash your clothes more thoroughly. Then the AquaJet technology releases detergent and water simultaneously. All of these innovations combine for a quick wash cycle that still gives your clothes an even clean.
