Well, all I can say is: go ahead and shoot me now for being a day late with CerebralMix 2015-12-13: Poetry Series Episode 19.
Why was I late? Well, that’s a weird / funny technical thing. I use a number of tools to create these show notes, specifically a text editor with an extension that makes it a breeze to create the table that you see below with all the track credits, links to release pages and the license information. I feel that it is imperative that this information accompany every single episode of this show that I do.. In fact, I feel that having these level of detail is so important to anyone that is using Creative Commons licensed music on their shows that I have been known to annoy other podcasters that didn’t follow my example — or at least come close to it.
So, as you can imagine, I was in a state of bewilderment when the tool that I have been using for the past several years to put all this information together suddenly broke. What is more strange is that it is about as baffling how and/or why it broke as can possibly be. I used it last week for doing this exact task, and it worked fine. In between then and now there have been no changes made: the software wasn’t updated, my configuration hasn’t changed, etc. So, why this happened is a complete mystery. My only guess is that I have seen a bit of other odd behavior from when I updated things two weeks ago. So, now that things are done with this episode, and I know how to back out of any problems I might encounter, I am going to do some additional tests as soon as these notes are made available.
Okay, now that I have that little rant aside, it’s time to get to the show. Guess what: I have nothing to really say about this episode. Seriously. It’s a show with poetry and random music. It is heavily weighed with electronic and classical music, and it fits the poetry readings extremely well. In fact, when I go back through and look at all of the poetry shows, this might be one that rises to the top five of this series. It really is the kind of show tht I think works better than the ones that lean more into the experimental and abstract music. So, enjoy this episode of The CerebralMix Poetry Series.
One additional item: the poetry series concludes on December 20th. On December 27th the #OO Radio Stream will air the final episode of The CerebralMix. Not just for the year, but possibly forever (I have considered something as a possibility for next year, but i haven’t mentioned it to the owner of the stream so I don’t know if he’s going to like the idea). However, there are two additional announcements that go with this:
- The show is not going away. It will still be done in podcast form starting in February of 2016 (and, I may even try to do a special episode before February just to test out some new ideas). The format of the show is changing, so you will want to keep your ears pealed for the updated format.
- The podcast version of the show from December 27th will likely be a special edition: not just the show that airs on the stream, but considerably more. How much more? I don’t know for certain, but I may be presenting it in 2 or even 3 parts leading up to New Years Eve.
Okay, so now I’ve rambled enough. Time to get the rest of these notes put together.
