Weeks top releases 4.2.13 620x206 CAVEMAN, TYLER THE CREATOR, RILO KILEY

This week, like usual, is jam packed with incredible releases. NYC’s post-rockers, Caveman, are dropping a dreamy, expansive sophomore album that you’re really going to dig, while LA indie rock darlings, Rilo Kiley, are releasing a collection of rare demos and unreleased tracks that’s likely to provide fans with sheer joy and a little closure after their breakup a few years back. Tyler the Creator is back to present us with a hip-hop record built on undeniably solid skill and wonky personality. It’s a little less violent, a little more mature, and (ugh) way too good. Montreal’s The Besnard Lakes and the UK’s British Sea Power have done more than swept me off my feet with their latest records. Always expertly arranged and gorgeously executed, these are two albums that you’re going to fall in love with. And then there’s the pop — The New Kids on the Block are back (again) after five years of becoming an even older boy band (man band, perhaps?), yet their latest is as catchy as anything else out there and tinged with modern pop tendencies. On the other end of the pop spectrum, Generationals are here with their first full-length, exploding with energetic guitar pop and candy hooks — this is really a fantastic debut that you don’t want to miss.

THE BESNARD LAKES – UNTIL IN EXCESS, IMPERCEPTIBLE UFO

RILO KILEY – RKIVES
