Manucci’s Mistress as the name may suggest is an outlet for the ‘deeper and sleazier side of underground electronic music…’ Whatever the thinking behind the imprint, they are building a reputable back catalog with the likes of Silk 86 – earning props from the likes of Nick Hoppner.
Nottingham based Cassio Kohl is breaking through with some instantaneous house tracks aimed squarely at the dance floor. As shown in his previous work with ‘Broken’ he writes vocal-led house grooves with aplomb.
‘Keep’ is the lead track with an infectious vocal sample and synth-heavy groove, easily the highlight of the release. ‘Changes’ follows a similar vein and the ‘B-side of the game’ offers up some story telling laid over a slower deepe shuffle reminiscent of some dusty ‘Lost sessions’ from Brawther’s studio floor.
