Recently, I discovered that you can make your own caramel sauce at home! I knew that this was something that could be done, but assumed that it would take time with using a candy thermometer and needing exact timings and measurements with needing to give it all your attention as if you don't kids and normal interruptions in life. Well I know some recipes can be like that, but this is a super easy caramel dip that takes minutes to make and only has 3 ingredients!
Indulgent and delicious caramel dip, almost like a Dulce De Leche style of caramel. Caramel dip or sauce is made up of heating sugar then adding milk and butter. Caramel sauce or dip is pretty versatile as you can you use for actually dipping in biscuits, fruit, or drizzle on to desserts as well as adding to cake batter, cake frosting and mixing into desserts like cheesecake. Makes a perfect base for lots of puddings and cakes.
Hosting a little get together I decided to make some caramel dip as everything was uber healthy such as sweet potato fries, healthy no fat hummus and plates of fruit. I placed the caramel dip and some Oreos on the table, and this went down very well.
This caramel dip/sauce does not stay too thin, once it cools the dip with get a little thicker more like a creamy peanut butter texture with is still delicious with sliced apple wedges or dunking Oreos. You can either eat it off a spoon, or lightly re-heat in the microwave with will soften the caramel dip. It should last about 2 weeks in the fridge, just make sure you have in an airtight container.
