Canadian Vickers OA-10A (PBV-1A) Catalina

@ Anchorage, AK

August 2007

This Canadian license-built Consolidated PBY was delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force as an OA-10 Catalina where it served Alaskan wartime duty.  Canadian Vickers produced 380 of these PBY-5A Catalinas under the designation PBV-1A, the Army then operated 230 of these Catalinas under the OA-10A designation.  In 1947 this plane crashed landed into Dago Lake while chasing bears (??) and was left for scrap.  It required a three-year effort to bring this Catalina to Lake Hood and here to the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum.  First flown in 1935, more than 3,300 were produced in the U.S., Canada and the Soviet Union.  Nikon D500 w/18-200mm.
