Canada Day Bunting

By Vixenmade @vixenMade
Last week I decided that I would celebrate the upcoming Canada Day by having a week of crafts focused on the holiday.
On July 1st, that's this upcoming Sunday, we get to celebrate our country.
Myself and many other fellow Canadians agree that there isn't much out there in the blogworld for Canada Day.  I mean, there's nothing wrong with the July 4th crafts out there, there's some fabulous Independence Day decor, which got me thinking I'd make some crafts and decor focused on my own country.
It's only right.  I'm proud of my country, so why not celebrate by decorating my home a little?

To start off the week of Canada Day crafts:

Canada Day Bunting
I've created some super easy 'Canada Day' bunting!  Who doesn't love bunting?   And I have so much red/white fabric in my stash.  It was bound to happen!

I've made bunting before here. But for those who don't sew, I created a much simpler and super easy way to create some.

Here's what you need:
fabrics (mine were all red and white for the 'Canada' theme)
ribbon
hot glue gun
bunting template
scissors or a rotary cutter

The best part of this project is I was able to use up my craft stash!  These fabrics were leftover from previous projects.

This ribbon was leftover from my boys' circus party.

Once you've printed and cut out your template, lay it on your fabric and using a rotary cutter, cut around your shape.  If it's easier for you, just trace the template and use scissors or your cutter.

Once you've cut a few of each fabric, you're ready to go.

Give each piece a press with an iron (no one likes wrinkled bunting).

Then lay out your ribbon.  Give yourself a few extra inches before adding your fabric pieces so you have ribbon to hang your bunting.

Glue the tops of the right side of your fabric piece to the ribbon like this.

Continue on with your different fabrics in a pattern if you like.

Once you're done, the front of the bunting should look like this.  Remember to add a few inches of ribbon at the end of the bunting as well.

Hang it up and enjoy!

I haven't added any 'Canada Day' decor to my shelf yet, but I'm loving it so far with the bunting!
