Canada 2013

By Sparklingker @sparklingker

Happy Sunday everyone! Here’s part 2 of my holiday! In between my trip to the US, we also spent a week in Canada. We traveled around British Columbia and then across to Alberta. The flight from LA to Vancouver was 3 hours. Our first night there, we didn’t stay in Vancouver but at a suburb called Richmond. About 50-60% of the residents in Richmond are of Asian decent. Our tour guide told us, they’re all mostly immigrated from Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.

On our second day, we took a ferry ride from Vancouver to Sidney (Vancouver Island) and the scenery was absolutely stunning.

The photo above is Parliament House. We got to walk inside and did a quick loop around, quite impressive.
canada 2013 Butchart Gardens

This is Butchart Gardens. It is one of the most popular tourist attraction on Vancouver Island. We were there at the end of November and they just started putting up the Christmas decorations.

Next stop is Whistler. Driving from Vancouver to Whistler is really beautiful. I couldn’t take any photos as the bus was going quite fast and my photos were too blurry. The Whistler Village Gondola ride was pretty darn amazing, it took about 20 minutes from the bottom of the mountain to the top. We had lunch on the mountain after getting off the gondola. We didn’t go snowboarding but spent most of the time exploring and taking photos.
canada 2013 Banff

We then traveled to Banff in Alberta. It took a good 6 hours on the bus to Banff, my bum was quite sore by the end of it. The drive there was spectacular, the most scenic bus ride I’ve never taken in my entire life. The mountains that surround Banff was so breathtaking, it doesn’t even seem real sometimes. While at Banff, we took the Gondola up to the top of Sulphur Mountain with an amazing view of six mountain ranges.
canada 2013 Lake Louise

If you have seen photos of Lake Louise, the lake is usually an emerald color in summer. So I was expecting to see the beautiful greeny/blue lake when I arrived. Turns out the lake freezes up in winter and this is what it looks like. Although it was frozen, it was still the most amazing views I’ve ever seen. I was trying to perform a super hero kick by the lake but instead I look like I’m trying to take a giant step.

Throughout our trip, we were lucky to have sunny days with clear skies so that we can experience these breathtaking views. It is such a beautiful place and I would really love to come back here again in the future. Hope you enjoyed my post.

Next post, my beauty haul!
