While searching through recipes, I happened upon a recipe written by my late grandma. Yellowed with age, this stationary features a dog, two cats, and flowers. What else would you write a recipe on?

I love cabbage but it wasn’t until I got to the end of the recipe that I noticed one word, “Delicious!” scrawled across the bottom. Yes, it even had an exclamation point. Sold!

This is a recipe from my late Grandmother. Written on yellowed stationary with cats, dogs, and flowers, she has "Delicious!" scrawled across the bottom.

Delicious it is! I like it with or without the bacon. Kid #1 prefers it with the bacon.

Ingredients

  • 4 Cups Beef Stock
  • 1 8 oz. Can Stewed Tomatoes
  • 3 Cups Cabbage, Shredded
  • 1 Medium Onion, Chopped
  • 1 1/2 Cups Apple, Diced
  • 1 11/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 Strips Bacon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine Stock, Tomatoes, Cabbage, Onion, Apple, Salt and Pepper.
  2. Cover and cook 30 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, fry Bacon crisp.
  4. Crumble Bacon.
  5. Top with crumbled Bacon to serve.
