A gun most certainly may be a defensive weapon, such as when the woman in her attic shot an intruder 5 times to protect her children. If a gun is not a defensive weapon, then why do his officers carry them?
A gun is an equalizer, a weapon to protect/defend yourself. Sadly this police chief is spreading PC/gun control rhetoric that legal gun owners know is baloney.
