By Wishtrend Green Tea and Enzyme Powder Wash Review

By Alyssa Martinez @ItsMariaAlyssa

Exfoliating your face doesn't need to hurt, and neither scrubbing the hell out of your skin will eliminate issues like oiliness. Actually, when your skin is over-scrubbed, the oil production actually speeds up because skin's natural repair mechanism is put into overdrive. So when I was approached to write By Wishtrend Green Tea and Enzyme Powder Wash review, my first concern was if it will be gentle on my oily and sensitive skin. But first, I'll discuss the main ingredients. I already listed all the skin benefits of green tea here, but what about enzymes?

How Do Enzymes Work in Your Skin?

There are many types of enzymes, but they have two primary uses in skin care- for exfoliation and anti-inflammation. Certain enzymes are effective exfoliants and can be gentler than other methods like scrubs and microdermabrasion. The upper layer of your skin is mostly made of dead skin cells containing keratin protein. The enzymes work by specifically breaking down the keratin protein, resulting in smoother skin. Look for fruit enzymes like papain (papaya) which is in the By Wishtrend Powder Wash, pineapple, or blueberry.

SCENT: It smells literally like matcha (powdered green tea).

PACKAGING: It packaged in a matcha green-colored box and plastic bottle. And as expected from Wishtrend, information such as directions and ingredients are both written in English and Korean. My only complaint is the font, it's white on light green, it's kinda hard to read.

RESULTS: This is actually the first powder cleanser I've ever use so I'm not really familiar with how to use this. On my first try, I was a bit confused. I thought it supposed to foam, but it only had little bubbles and it feels like I was using a watery version of my soap-free cleanser. Luckily, Geeky Posh featured this product on her Instagram Stories. I replied to her about using this and she told me she was informed that it was supposed to do that. This product doesn't really foam that much. So phew! I think I'm using it right.

Because I have sensitive skin, I decided to use this only twice a week and so far I've used this powder wash for only three times. Honestly, I haven't seen any significant improvement on my face yet, and I can't prove the blackhead care as well. However, my skin does feel smoother upon using this powder wash. It didn't irritate my skin especially my current acne, nor gave me milia (tiny white bumps) which I often get whenever I use a new cleanser that didn't suit my skin. I didn't have any tightening feeling on my face as well.

PRECAUTIONS: Do not use along with another skin care products that have exfoliating effects (retinol, high concentration vitamin C, AHA/BHA, etc.)

Verdict

PROS: It's a refreshing, gentle, and moisturizing cleanser good for all skin types especially those with oily and acne-prone skin. This is for those who want an exfoliating product without the irritation.

CONS: Adding water to the powder is kinda tricky. There are moments it slid down my arm.

Will I Buy It Again? As mentioned above, I've haven't been using this long, so I'm not sure yet. But I'll update this review when I see some changes in my skin.
