The Mela was initially started by the king of Ghatshila and now as a tradition, it happens every year in the month of October for fifteen days in the bank of the Dam. During the Mela, the Santhal tribe displays the famous Santhali Handicrafts such as Madhubani art and paintings, Warli paintings, Dhokra arts clothes, earthen pots, and lamps, jewelry, etc.
