Burlap Star Ornament

By Vixenmade @vixenMade
I'm getting excited for Christmas!  Like every year.  And, yes, my tree is up and decorated. In Canada, we don't have Thanksgiving between Halloween and Christmas, so we get to just jump right to decorating for Christmas.  I'm not complaining.Anyways, my tree this year consists of a country/woodsy theme.  And, of course, I decided to make some of the ornaments.
Here's the first one.  My burlap star.

This one is pretty easy.  All you need is a star stencil or template.  I traced mine from a cookie cutter.  But if you don't have one, just find an image in a google search.

Fold over your burlap and pin on your star template to cut out more than one at a time.

I wanted a bunch of them.  So I cut them all out first.

Then you can use the same template to cut a smaller star out.

Use this to cut out stars out of a plaid or gingham fabric.

Pin it onto the center of your burlap star and sew around the perimeter.

Then, you can place another burlap star onto this one and sew them together, sewing just around the perimeter (not shown).

Once that's done, you can add a string for hanging.  I used a large needle (it's actually a jewelry needle, but you can use a large embroidery needle) to thread the bakers twine.

Tie the string in a knot and you're finished!

Hang it on your tree and enjoy.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
