2nd Green Revolution is currently a website (or a blog I suppose). However, we have designs on expanding into other realms, including a non-profit arm. Read our “About Page” and you’ll find out a bit more about our interests. As a PhD Candidate, I hope to use my research to work with schools in the future. Today, in a slightly self-serving way, I am making that first leap.
Starting next month I am offering a professional development workshop for teachers in the Front Range of Colorado (roughly Fort Collins down to Colorado Springs) titled “Buildings that Teach.” The workshop details are below, but it starts with a 2-day exploration on August 7th and 8th of many of the concepts tied to buildings as teaching tools. I have created a flyer that contains more information.
The workshop will cover the following topics:

- Student Centered Classrooms
- Place-Based Education
- Educating for Sustainability (EfS)
- Energy Audits
- Systems Thinking
- Environmental/Social Justice
The other day I saw the following quotation on Majora Carter’s Twitter page, “You Don’t Have to Move Out of Your Neighborhood to Live in a Better One.” This is a wonderful way to think about the workshop. In large part, the goal is to work with teachers so that they can guide their students in efficiency, energy audits, and improving their current facilities.
