Imagine living your life in a body that feels wrong. What if living your life freely could potentially put you in danger (physically and/or mentally)? Now think about what the pain of essentially living a lie for 65 years must feel like. My heart really goes out to Bruce Jenner.
I cannot deny the initial shock when I saw Bruce, who now goes by Caitlyn, on the cover of Vanity Fair shot by Annie Leibovitz . Knowing her journey to becoming Caitlyn though, I can only applaud her. The cover simply states, "Call me Caitlyn" with a sophisticated Jenner in a sultry pose wearing a cream bustier bodysuit. She looks stunning and most importantly free.
There is no easy way to come out. Especially when you are in the spotlight. I truly commend Caitlyn for her bravery. She is an example to us all when it comes to living your life honestly and embracing who are you truly are. Hopefully her actions will give others in the transgender community the courage to follow in her footsteps.
