I love a good brow, and over the years of trial and error, I think I've got mine looking almost exactly the way that I want them. Whilst there are too many beauty techniques that I haven't mastered yet, eyebrow taming would definitely have to go in the other category, and with so many of you asking me to teach you how I get them looking the way that they do, I thought it only fair to show you.
Plucking and Shaping: I'm lucky in the fact that I've grown up in a time of the big brow coming back in, but even so, I've definitely had my fair share of over plucking before. When I first met the tweezers my brows probably reduced in size by at least 50%, whilst I tried to 'just get rid of the stray ones' it also entailed rather questionably removing the inner parts, which I still have the sparseness to prove, but luckily, I never got involved with the razor. Now, I try to stick to my natural shape as much as possible - it's the one that will suit you best - only plucking hairs which definitely aren't meant to be there, and I do it a little at a time, step back and check that they both match to make sure that I don't go too crazy. As for sparseness, there's nothing to do but wait.
Filling in: Once my brows have a good start shape, I then like to fill them in. My preferred method is powder over pencil, because I find that it looks so much softer and more natural. Makeup Revolutions palette has all the colours that I need for creating a more natural or darker brow look, depending on the type of look that I am going for, and tend to mix the top two to get the perfect color. I start by creating an arch, then filling in the tail, and finally with what is left on the brush, go and fill in the fronts. By using short, light motions, and an angled eye brush, it is easy to perfectly mimic the hairs, filling sparse patches in and giving the brows a whole load more oomph. Setting: All that is left to be done after that is to set them all in place, for which I use the Benefit's Gimme Brow. A tiny tube housing a coloured tint for your brows and a teensy mascara type wand on the bottom, this gives volume to the brows, creating hairs where there were seemingly none and setting them in place for the whole of the rest of the day. On lower maintenance days I use this by itself and it is a super convenient way of perfecting the brows without having to make an effort at all.
I consider my lesson taught, and I hope I answered all your questions. Let me know if this helped, and what your miracle products for brows are.
