Turning the corner into a new year brings a renewal of spirit, a chance to better yourself, and most importantly, many more hours of listening to good music. This year we suggest listening to the French Cassettes. They’ve already put out two albums: Gold Youth from 2013 and 2011’s Summer Darling. We haven’t heard much talk about a third, but if they’re waiting for us to beg for one, well, there’s no shame in our game. Based out of San Francisco, they offer up a West Coast vibe and cool tunes. Their chill lyrics and upbeat melodies bring a unique atmosphere. It immediately makes us dream about a bonfire at the beach or an afternoon BBQ with friends. After you listen to a few tracks, you’ll find this indie group popping into your head when you least expect it. Check out a couple of our faves, “Us Kids” and “Radley”. Really though, who doesn’t love a song called “Radley”? Another reason to enjoy them — on social media, they give credit where credit is due: To their manager Sprout, the cat.
