Bright Eyed Bushy Tailed.
I try my best to get enough sleep, really, I do (she says tapping away on her laptop into the late hours of the night) but sometimes it's just not possible. Whether through choice or insomnia, we all have those nights where we can't sleep, look like the living dead the next morning, and need to do something about it, pronto. There's a couple of miracle products that I like to fall back on to make me feel more human in the mornings, and keep the world hidden from the fact I sort of, maybe, definitely missed out on my forty winks, the night before.
The biggest tell-tale sign when your lacking in the sleep department has got to be the eyes. Bluish, purple circles under your eyes that look like bruises and are a pain in the bottom to hide, but there are ways to conceal them. One way would be to use a corrector, but recently I've been relying on the Pixi Pencil in 'Wakeup' to do the job for me instead. A duo ended pencil, the matte side is perfect for in the water line and lightly concealing around the eye, and the beautifully creamy texture blends beautifully into the skin. The second end has more of a shimmer to it, which makes it perfect for highlighting the inner corners and underneath the brow bone to bring that bit of life back to your eyes. Then I like to go in and do my brows with the makeup revolution palette, and a bit of Gimme Brow to set them. If possible, I try and get quite a defined arch in, as it helps to pull up the eyes, making them seem wider and more awake. To finish of the eyes, and open them up, mine for one seem to be a puffy mess in the mornings, a really good mascara and eyelash curler will sort out all your problems. I think you all know by now that my favorite is the L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara, lengthening, curling and separating ... it does it all.
Another problem I seem to notice when I'm lacking in the zzz department is that my skin becomes dull and sallow. I like to let it breath with a light base, such as the Bobbi Brown tinted moisturiser and to inject a little radiance back in, I like to finish off with a glow-boosting powder, such as the Bourjois Rice Powder, which, being pink, helps to balance out the skin tone and the subtle shimmer gives a 'lit from within' look. Finally, adding a little color to the lips can help no end. A bold matte lip colour, however nice it would look, isn't really feasible to apply on a day-to-day tired stupor, but by going for something sheer and glossy, like the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse in Impulsive Fuchsia, you can get the same result in a way that is a lot easier to apply.
Almost ready to face the day? No, me neither ...
What are your favorite products to make you look somewhat awake?
